The Space Between boldly took on Shakespeare's classic tale of love, youth, recklessness, loyalty and passion - Romeo and Juliet.
The play was presented at the DiFiore Center For The Arts at 307 N. Main Street, Saint George, Utah with performances on April 30, May 1, 2, and 3 and May 7, 8, and 9. The Space Between dove into the heart of the story to make it resonate inside the minds of today's audience. To that end the text was taken apart and then reassembled. Certain scenes were cut, certain scenes were meshed together with other scenes, some characters had a larger presence then they originally did, and some characters disappeared altogether. To fit with TSB's artistic aesthetic, the DiFiore Center was not just be the location where the audience happened to see the production, but it almost become a character itself as the events of the play unfolded at different locations on the grounds of the Arts Center. The audience found themselves physically following the action of the play as it unspooled. Shakespeare's classic story has survived hundreds of years for a reason. Thank you for discovering that reason with us as we proudly shared with you our version of Romeo and Juliet's beating heart. "...An innovative and highly energetic rendition . . . you have never experienced a play in quite this way before, and if you are a lover of unique and unusual experiences, this is for you." - Kathleen Baber, Saint George News |
