TSB's Play Reading Series
The DiFiore Center - 307 North Main Street, St. George UT, 84770
*Some plays may contain strong language and adult themes.
The Space Between places an utmost importance on exposing people to recent theatrical works - works that have been produced by the same era of time that has produced the readers of these works.
We believe that if someone wants to know about theatre, it’s important that they recognize that theatre is busy still existing in the kicking, screaming NOW. Theatre hasn’t stopped moving, growing, acting and reacting. Playwrights haven’t stopped writing and the public shouldn’t stop reading. New works are being created that speak to us in the here and now ABOUT the here and now. Why not be a willing participant in the world in which you live in? Artistic Directors from The Space Between will pre-select a play to be read aloud. Members from the community are invited and readers will be solicited from those who show up. Following the reading of the play, a guided discussion will be held. The topics will range from simple concepts (Did we enjoy the piece? Did we hate it?) to more complex ones (Is this work guiding our society towards something we feel we should be reaching for?). There are no right or wrong answers - all thoughts and feelings will be embraced and heard. In The Space Between’s Play-Reading Series we take written words that are meant to be spoken aloud and WE SPEAK THEM ALOUD. It’s a pretty simple concept. We show up. We read a play. We pick it apart. We get our brains thinking and we get a little deeper understanding of ourselves. *These shows are not suitable for patrons under the age of fourteen. The Space Between's Play-Reading Series is free. No tickets are required. |
